Rep. Steve King admits that GOP is playing word-games on immigration.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/06/cnns-chris-cuomo-gets-shouting-match-gop-rep-false-claim-democrats-defending-ms-13/

“No. He rejected the offer. They put the wall on the table,” Cuomo corrected. “Then it became about money. Schumer says, ‘You guys,’ not you, you’re in the House, but Republicans in the Senate wouldn’t give him more money to earmark for the wall than the $25 billion that was for. Whether it’s true or not, saying they’re for open borders is selling a lie that’s making them look like an enemy.”

“You can define open borders differently,” King reasoned. “They’re promising citizenship to nearly everybody that can get into America unless they’re the kind of criminals that cause them to be political criminals. I stood near the capitol building in 2005 or so when Kennedy went out to the west lawn, stood at the podium. The law was full of bussed in people. He said to them, he had an interpreter, I heard it in English, he said, ‘Some say report to be deported. I say report to become an American citizen.'”

“Even that wouldn’t be an open border,” Cuomo corrected.

See? If you don't like an immigration-policy, just call it "open borders". It doesn't matter if that policy actually is about open borders. "Open borders" is just a buzzword that can mean anything.

Some guy saying that Democrats want open borders to get more votes.
I said that nobody has ever advocated for open borders.
His response: “Two words: Sanctuary Cities.”
I told him that sanctuary cities and open borders are not really very closely connected as far as issues and current immigration policy is concerned. I asked if he knew what an open border is and what a sanctuary city is. To his credit, he did respond (incorrectly) and I did correct him (politely) and I told him that his confusion is understandable (in Fox News Land) because the media has used open borders and sanctuary cities as talking points to create fear and cause division. He’s definitely in the Trump cult, and often I realize I’ve wasted a few hours of my life that I’m never getting back when I can’t deprogram these people, but this guy seems swayable. I don’t think he’ll join the revolution, but I don’t think he will be marching with a pitchfork and tiki torch either. He had serious fears about this “open border policy,” and when I was able to give him facts about immigration numbers and policies of both parties regarding our borders, he seemed to listen and I sensed his fear, which was his main problem, diminish.
These people prey on the weak. They know what they are doing and it’s working out well for them.
