You know what Republicans are? They're shock jocks.

Really - they're just morning commute drive time fucking shock jocks. They're the Trey & Cooter Show on 102.3 KUGR FM. You call into their station and they want you to sing the Friday Morning Fart Song. Or what you would hear on the radio as you commute to work during the week. They just stupid shit because the one thing they love is to "trigger the snowflake".

This latest exercise with the Red Hen is just another example in a long list of shock jock values. Yeah they talk a lot of shit about "second amendment solutions" and triggering the snowflakes, but you know what? In the end, they'll never act on what they say. They just do it for shock value. Ann Coulter is a shock jock. So is Mike Huckabee, James Woods, Milo Yiannopolous, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Sarah Palin, all the religious right crazy people, Dana Loesch, I could go on and on.

And like most shock jocks - they speak in code because the words they *WANT* to use would not only be too offensive for most people to hear, they would be too offensive for prime time. You know - you got to sell the advertising space. And the thing with most shock jocks is that they get off on saying the things you *DON'T* want to hear. And the thing is if you let that "trigger" you, they win. Because they're just attention hounds, and the only thing an attention hound craves is more attention.

The shock jock will tell you about a "second amendment solution" or to shoot people coming across the border, but they'll never bluntly say it, because if they do say it, we are onto them. But they speak in code topped with a shit eating grin and a *wink wink nudge nudge* kind of attitude. Which means that they win - because they are looking for any kind of attention - doesn't matter if it's positive or negative. They see their name trending on social media and they're satisfied.

Which brings me to the ultimate shock jock - Donald J. Trump. His morning drive time commute name would be "Heir Twitler". Ever notice how most of his most shocking things he says are at 4:00AM when most of us are asleep? Because that's usually when most stations are off the air and he can say anything that he wants to, and there will be nobody to call him out on it. You can blame it on his bowel movements, and it is fun to do so, but really it's more strategic than it is his (lack of a) diet.

So what do you do with a shock jock? Don't give them the kind of ratings they crave. They want ratings for anything, they just want to see their name in the spotlight. If they say or do something that threatens you, just don't give them any kind of attention.

when they should be shutting him out like the lunatic rants of someone randomly wandering the streets.

It's true that he delights in publicity, but it's not accurate to say he never acts, because he does - in very bad ways. I agree about not feeding him what he wants, though. I'd love it if the media decided to give him nothing more than pool coverage - that is, send only one reporter (preferably not a big name) and one photographer to each event, press briefing or press conference - representing all the media on a rotating basis. And then they just report in a few sentences what he said in a later news show. No breaking into other programming to give him live coverage, and no reporting of his rants and tweets (Twitter will take care of that itself). Starve the beast. It would drive him nuts.

Look at the crazy things said by Dana Loesch and Ann Coulter, etc. Yeah they talk a good game, but they're the ones who wouldn't act on it or they'd see the inside of a prison cell. Trump can talk all the crap he wants about anybody and he won't suffer the same fate because he's the president.

4. Coulter tries to outdo herself in outrageousness just for the publicity

but it isn't working any more. Maybe that's because Trump himself is even more outrageous. But I agree that all those idjits should be ignored.
