(6,421 posts)IIRC, some justice that Bartlett really disliked made an appointment to see him. Bartlett made some joke about hoping it was a resignation. Turns out that was it but it was because the guy was really sick (or maybe his wife ???)...anyway, by the time the episode was over Bartlett had a newfound respect for the guy.
Not suggesting that happened today by any means...just highlighting the civic class where I learned it. lol

(13,305 posts)But....but....all the very smart and sensible people told me countless times how were were hanging our hat on his precious swing vote and his very serious jurisprudence.
Of course those were the same people who said "We shouldn't use the nuclear option or get rid of the 60 vote rule because then it will come back to bite us when Republicans are in charge.
And then they used it for Gorsuch anyway.
Something tells me we need to stop fucking listening to these very sensible people.

(21,729 posts)With a list of centrist judges and urged drump to keep the court evenly split at least. And maybe drumpf promised to do so, so Kennedy agreed to retire?
Oh and maybe pigs will fly out of my butt.
