(100,149 posts)When you own and control the media, you can say anything you want. They have that. We don't. If our media was truly liberal as they claim it was, Trump would have been laughed out of the primaries.

why haven't workers risen up in mass to demand their fair share of the fruits of their labor, while they toil and struggle to feed their families as the owners and executives of the companies have more than they and their own families could ever consume in their lives?

And sadly, God rules. Guns rule. Brown people are stealing your shit. is a pretty effective message in most of the country. Sometimes the stupid wins.
We need to get the vote out. Organize the Latinx vote. Get those Florida EC votes by mobilizing displaced Puerto Rican voters totally screwed by the Administrations mishandling of hurricane relief. Dont let some shitty white college boys split the party with their bro nonsense like they did last time. Keep hammering on this ICE fiasco and making sure the gross orange wankstain currently occupying the White House is linked inextricably to photos of caged hysterical children.
Trump is eminently beatable if we pull our thumbs out of our asses and get it done. Weve lost the Court for thirty years, but hopefully we can learn from that and get historic inevitably back on track.

I'm not saying we should become Republicans. But I do think we need elected officials who won't hesitate to use their own tactics against them to advance our own issues (e.g. ACA, reproductive choice, civil rights, etc.).
That's why you see these young people that are running against long-term, established Democrats. They're not beholden to years and decades of rules, norms and civility. They're more adept at doling out what the current situation merits.

It's unfortunate that more of the extremely wealthy don't use their wealth for good rather than pumping billions into right-wing causes, campaigns and media.
We must somehow find ways to isolate wealth from excessive power......
