I know the South Park Susan incident is a few days old but,

I just had to write this.

I saw the video and am so disgusted.

I am a middle aged white woman who has always found racism and bigotry wrong and upsetting. I could never wrap my mind around it.

Maybe because I was brought up to see it as wrong and to take people as individual persons. I base my feelings or views on the person and not the religion or color, ect.

The spate of calls by largely white women against blacks committing the crimes of grilling and picnicing in the park, sitting in the student union as a student, collecting signatures to run for office, being a father walking his baby in the park, ect. has galled me.

Not to mention tragedies like a school employee riding in the car with his toddler daughter and fiancee, or being 12, waiting in the the park for his sister playing with a toy gun, selling onsies, and being murdered. No weapons and not doing anything wrong but, murdered.

Now comes South Park Susan who is hot, beautiful and white - as she says, harassing and insulting two sisters waiting for roadside assistance to come.,

And the acts of hate towards women and minorities.

I live in a small city in Illinois. I have had black bosses and co-workers. Real black friends where we called each other and hung out.
And frankly, I just don't recall a time in my adult life where things were this bad.

Granted, I have never had to experience this kind of thing myself. Except during the lead up to Iraq when the French became the enemy (freedom Fries) and my mother, with her french accent, had me worried. The French Bistro by her home got vandalized.
But, that was minor.

With the murders of 11 people at the synagogue yesterday I have to say that lately I have noticed more anti semitic comments, ect. But, I am not sure if it is growing or has been that way all along, My ex husband was adopted and a couple years ago ran a dna thing and found out he was half jewish. This makes our daughter 1/4 and my granddaughters 1/8. So, my awareness has ticked way up recently.

I am wondering if this is the same with other communities. That the hate has always been there goes without saying but, has it gotten alot worse lately or is it that we are just being made aware?

Charlotte is a blue city, with an AA female mayor...and we all get along just fine here.

This creature is not from Charlotte, but from Massachusetts.

Hopefully, she’s returned back north by now.

Wouldn't that be interstate flight to avoid prosecution?

A friend grew up on Queens Road.

I am puzzled - why it is being referred to as South Park?

Myers Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Charlotte, and very wealthy. Old money.

Southpark is a mall built in the 70s or 80s (forgot), and the area grew around it. Lots of trendy restaurants, bars, etc.; it is NOT Myers Park.

SouthPark is relatively new, full of young up and comers. And wannabes. Also well to do area, but many, like this idiot, living beyond their means just to have the addy.

The kind that are unashamed and will spread their bigotry any chance they get. For these people the current social and political climate emboldens because they perceive safety in numbers. They believe they can get away with their hate and bigotry because others will stand up and be counted among them. Trump is their leader and MAGA is every bit about a return to separate but equal and having minorities put "back in their place" they make no apologies for their hatred and surround themselves with only those of like mind.

Then we have the others and in a lot of ways they are worse because they are racist and bigoted but pretend to be otherwise. They hide among the crowd. They are your coworkers and family. They arent specific to Republican or Democrat. We all know someone like them even if they havent outed themselves.

These are the people who put on a show for everyone to see and view their "so very not racist actions" as charity. They wont admit that charity is the motivation behind their actions but they are not honest with themselves. They will go out of the way to hold a door open for a person of color and feel such a sense of pride for their act. Service workers like this will go out of their way to be extra kind to minority and gay customers for the same reason. It's a show and they get a self satisfied emotional release from their actions. The fact that they act and feel in this way is evidence that they continue to hold themselves above others. Minorities need their "kindness" but it's only offered when they have the time because they certainly wont be conveniences or allow themselves to feel discomfort. They will think nothing of clutching their purse or grabbing their wallet when walking by a black or latino male. If they are cut off in traffic you can be certain the racial slur will fly (but only if they believe that no one will find out). They will make noises of disgust if they observe same sex couples expressing affection to each other. They dont think anyone can tell but it's all over their face.

The latter are the type of people who will vocally condemn conservatives and their regressive social agenda but they would love for it to happen. If minorities and LGBT were pushed to the back again then they could offer their charity as often as they like while never being made to feel uncomfortable.

As much as I hate the vocal bigots, I know who they are. Their boldness as of late is a direct result of the current administration and the actions of trumps allies. They have always been here but the more we stamp out hate speech and push them out of office, the more they will die out. The latter however betray us and that hurts so much more. I have been disappointed more than once by being made to feel like charity.
