Over thirty people or corporations have been indicted or plead guilty in the Mueller probe.

My son made it through his second year of life and is thriving.

Numerous major companies dropped their affiliation with the NRA, millions participated in actions against gun violence, and youth played a major role.

Jimmy Carter made it another year and keeps showing us how it’s done.

This has probably been in the works for years now. I am really hoping we will see more food products with hemp, as well as clothing, paper, medical and cosmetic products. I think this is a great thing for farmers and the planet.

Except for a couple of personal things (remodeled a very out of date kitchen, my grandson is rocking being on a hockey team and I am keeping off the 35 pounds that I lost) I can't think of much. The mid-terms did not go very well in my state (MO) but I am happy for others!

Adam Rippon became the first openly gay US male athlete to win a medal in the Winter Olympics.

The Thai soccer team was rescued from a cave.

Toronto hosted it's first-ever Indigenous Fashion Week.

Kendrick Lamar won a Pulitzer Prize for "Damn".

Coney Island's boardwalk is now a landmark.

The James Beard Awards honored an impressive number of women and minorities.

Ted Nolan's 75k donation to First Nations University.

More than 100 women were elected to the House.

Kim Davis lost her election for Kentucky clerk.

Tammy Duckworth was the first Senator to give birth while in office and voted on the floor with her baby beside her.

Jared Polis became the first openly gay male elected governor in the US.

We have many to thank for a motivational 2018. The Parkland victims and survivors, Hillary Clinton, Barack and Michelle Obama, Beto O'rourke, Andrew Gillum and many more that I'm positive that I forgot to mention.

Here's to 2019! I'm looking forward for more motivational and positive progressive changes for this New Year.

March for our Lives.

Representation for African Americans and Asians in popular culture.

The diverse and progressive House wins (esp. women).

Plaid shirt guy (for the lulz).

Wee little Jessica Curry.

There are countless good things that happened in 2018.

On a personal level only though. Son #3 FINALLY has found a woman that he wants to marry and that loves him, and I like her too. He's almost 37, and I was getting worried. He found her on OKC, which he'd been on for years looking for "the one", and it finally worked.

Also, an old friend I'd been out of touch with for 8 years finally came back into my life. It has brought balance back into my life.

Hoping 2019 will be better than 2018. Happy New Year everyone!

41. Five great achievements from 2018
Tue Jan 1, 2019, 04:38 PM
Jan 2019

... just a few of many:

Democrats won back control of the US House of Representatives and women make up an encouraging number of the new members.

In Michigan, Democratic women swept the statewide offices of governor, attorney general and secretary of state... no more Rick Snyder here!

Survivors of the Parkland shooting have become convincing spokespersons for the insanity of gun violence in this country, and I'm convinced that their continued messaging on this issue will help finally prompt meaningful change.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is still on the job and continuing to investigate Republican malfeasance in the 2016 election, and has issued numerous indictments and obtained at least eight guilty pleas. (My figures for indictments and pleas are surely outdated...)

Kikkan Randall and Jessie Diggins won the US's first ever cross country gold medal in the Winter Olympics games. Yay ladies!!

My wife's health is improving.
My daughter is still a really great kid.

We lost our last cat (17 years) and my friends had a pretty horrible year but for family members we didn't lose anyone - some close calls from slips to strokes.

2018 sucked but in all it's like it didn't happen...except for losing the boy.

Democrats' performances in special elections

Democrats taking the US House

Maine completely repudiating LePage

More female office holders, overwhelmingly democrats

California voters solidifying that state's status as a bellwether.

New Your voters getting rid of most democrats that voted with republicans

Two Black candidates in two southern states running close races and would have won if not for cheating, the results showed that a LOT of Whites voted to put the two candidates in office.

Hillary reemerged as a public voice.

Mueller getting convictions and slowly tearing down the Trump rat's nest.

New Hampshire voters flipping their Legistlature from red to blue.
