I can't.... But I'd really like to know there were some.

My son made it through his second year of life and is thriving.
Numerous major companies dropped their affiliation with the NRA, millions participated in actions against gun violence, and youth played a major role.
Jimmy Carter made it another year and keeps showing us how its done.

I can think of at least five more. Becoming demoralized plays right into their hands, it ain't over but it is getting better - do not give up.

(3,208 posts)This has probably been in the works for years now. I am really hoping we will see more food products with hemp, as well as clothing, paper, medical and cosmetic products. I think this is a great thing for farmers and the planet.
Except for a couple of personal things (remodeled a very out of date kitchen, my grandson is rocking being on a hockey team and I am keeping off the 35 pounds that I lost) I can't think of much. The mid-terms did not go very well in my state (MO) but I am happy for others!

We have many to thank for a motivational 2018. The Parkland victims and survivors, Hillary Clinton, Barack and Michelle Obama, Beto O'rourke, Andrew Gillum and many more that I'm positive that I forgot to mention.
Here's to 2019! I'm looking forward for more motivational and positive progressive changes for this New Year.

Strong economic growth.
Criminal justice reform.
Massive wins for House Democrats.
On a personal level only though. Son #3 FINALLY has found a woman that he wants to marry and that loves him, and I like her too. He's almost 37, and I was getting worried. He found her on OKC, which he'd been on for years looking for "the one", and it finally worked.
Also, an old friend I'd been out of touch with for 8 years finally came back into my life. It has brought balance back into my life.
Hoping 2019 will be better than 2018. Happy New Year everyone!

(1,350 posts)... just a few of many:
Democrats won back control of the US House of Representatives and women make up an encouraging number of the new members.
In Michigan, Democratic women swept the statewide offices of governor, attorney general and secretary of state... no more Rick Snyder here!
Survivors of the Parkland shooting have become convincing spokespersons for the insanity of gun violence in this country, and I'm convinced that their continued messaging on this issue will help finally prompt meaningful change.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller is still on the job and continuing to investigate Republican malfeasance in the 2016 election, and has issued numerous indictments and obtained at least eight guilty pleas. (My figures for indictments and pleas are surely outdated...)
Kikkan Randall and Jessie Diggins won the US's first ever cross country gold medal in the Winter Olympics games. Yay ladies!!

We lost our last cat (17 years) and my friends had a pretty horrible year but for family members we didn't lose anyone - some close calls from slips to strokes.
2018 sucked but in all it's like it didn't happen...except for losing the boy.

Democrats taking the US House
Maine completely repudiating LePage
More female office holders, overwhelmingly democrats
California voters solidifying that state's status as a bellwether.
New Your voters getting rid of most democrats that voted with republicans
Two Black candidates in two southern states running close races and would have won if not for cheating, the results showed that a LOT of Whites voted to put the two candidates in office.
Hillary reemerged as a public voice.
Mueller getting convictions and slowly tearing down the Trump rat's nest.
New Hampshire voters flipping their Legistlature from red to blue.
