(53,410 posts)Evidently you could only see the dust as he went from being there to being gone in less than a second.
Im sure hes dreaming of his Presidential run, or maybe even primarying Trump. Or hes just sucking his thumb in self pity.

(81,608 posts)Not man enough to stick around and work with a demotion. She certainly did. She didnt cut n run after the latest election dictated she would not continue as Speaker. She stayed. Stayed and fought the good fight. She has more balls than all the CON men in that House chamber, combined.

(7,220 posts)And now a woman will lead us as Speaker of the House. With male reps like Ted Lieu singing "California here we come!" as they escort her to the speaker's chair. And the gavel handed to her by the incoming house minority leader because the outgoing Republican former speaker is a freaking sad sack.

(3,431 posts)to the volunteers and donors who made today's victory possible. Nancy Pelosi owns the gavel thanks to folks who made the calls, knocked on doors, and wrote the checks to create the "Blue Wave".
Americans HAVE rejected Trump Tea Party policies.
12 Million MORE voter cast their ballot for DEMOCRATS than Republicans in US Senate races.
8 MIllion MORE voters cast their ballots for DEMOCRATS than Republicans in US House of representatives races.
3 Million MORE voters cast their ballots for HILLARY CLINTON than Donald Trump in the corrupted 2016 election.
The Supreme Court has a conservative majority ONLY because Republicans callously rejected constitutional norms.
Republicans have harnessed the reins of power through suppression, collusion, gerrymandering, and the Constitutional legacy of a government structure designed originally to grant disproportionate powers to small rural (slave) states.
The rebuilding of democracy begins today.

(3,402 posts)Nancy has suffered the same stigma women routinely deal with in a position of power...people attached whatever they view as a negative to her, then reworked the facts to fit their perception. Thus Republicans assumed she was a socialist, and the most liberal decided she was practically a Republican. Shell never win over the Trumpbots, but thats pretty much a badge of honor at this point. The rest of America will see a strong, smart woman who courageously stands up to Herr Drumpenfuhrer. Shell go down in history as one of the greatest leaders, and one of the greatest civil rights icons, of our time.

(58,793 posts)for all of the hoopla and bullshit during the transition, there never was a real challenger to her for the gavel. What it was was the usual jockeying for seats, committee chairs, and positions in the new House leadership.
A good strong woman is badly needed in this country. Nancy is that and more. Nobody counts votes like Nancy.

(58,785 posts)As Justice Brandeis said, We may have democracy, or we may have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we cant have both.
We must end that injustice and restore the publics faith in a better future for themselves and their children. We must be champions of the middle class, and all those who aspire to it because the middle class is the backbone of democracy.
The American people understand the urgency. The people are ahead of the Congress. The Congress must join them.
That is why we have created the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. The entire Congress must work to put an end to the inaction and denial of science that threaten the planet and the future.
That first is a call to a second, 21st century New Deal to undo the transfer of national wealth and power to new classes that are wealthy beyond the imagining of normal citizens. It's so far gone mostly unremarked, but from her mouth a commitment of great import.
