(14,971 posts)he voted for her.

(58,785 posts)Notably, many self-identified Democrats are part of it, hostile to and insisting on removal of the 1 woman among the 8 or 12 top congressional leaders, depending on how you choose to count them. In the "Year of the Woman" yet! Moulton's more an effect than cause, with much more pernicious influences finding fertile ground in mindless foolishness, ignorance Moulton-type misogyny, and/or conservative leanings, helped by big doses of hypocrisy.
Noting that Pelosi's powerful efforts literally helped elect most or all of those who spoke and/or voted against her. How many of them realized she's very strongly liberal and progressive and did that anyway? I fully expect some of those who campaigned on being more progressive to turn out to be less in action.
As for Moulton and others, apparently they either made the deals they intended before, or at least were given something to take away. I'd like to think some were persuaded that voting against could mean losing their heads in future but guessing it was the first.

(62,491 posts)I will be much more concerned on how they vote on major issues.

Really, Roll Call. That's just sloppy.

(12,702 posts)She counted her votes, and let them vote against her because that's good strategy - they can say "look, we didn't vote for her" to their constituents, and they can still get their committee positions and help their wrong-headed constituents who apparently only have Faux news to get their information from.
It's one of the reasons she is one of the best Speakers in memory - she understands the true Art of the Deal.
Despite her losses - and Speakers always have losses, due to the nature of the House as a more populist organization - there are few members of House party leadership that have accomplished as much as she has - with the Media spotlight she is constantly under, being both a woman and a Liberal.
That spotlight would have destroyed most of the recent GOP House leadership if it had ever been pointed their way for more than a few days. And yet, she thrives.

(16,955 posts)however, others are correct in stating that we do need to watch future moves. We've lost opportunities in the past when small groups of "our" people elected to veer away from the party line just to attend more to their own agenda.

(6,859 posts)*Probably voted that way only because they knew she was going to win.

(31,011 posts)They were protest votes. Nothing more. There will be more important votes ahead that we need to watch, IMO.

(6,143 posts)My concern is if they are so willing to pander by making such a trivial promise to get elected, how will they vote on specific bills.

(31,261 posts)They ran for the right reasons, in districts where victory for them was a pretty long shot. I will give them time to show what they are.

(35,455 posts)Whatever they gotta do to flip a district, go ahead and do it. Ted Kennedy was famous for letting his colleagues run against him if it meant another Democrat in the Senate.
Nancy does not have Trump's ego. Most people don't.
