China Threatens to Sink US Carriers

‘We’ll see how frightened America is’ — Chinese admiral says sinking US carriers key to dominating South China Sea

Another Beijing official has sounded off about the communist nation’s perceived dominance of the South China Sea region, this time coming as an alarming threat of inflicting mass casualties on the U.S. Navy.

During a Dec. 20 speech to the 2018 Military Industry List summit, China’s Rear Adm. Lou Yuan, the deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, added fuel to the South China Sea fire when he stated the key for Chinese domination in those hotly contested waters could lie in the sinking of two U.S. aircraft carriers, according to a report by Australia’s news.com.

"What the United States fears the most is taking casualties,” the admiral said, before adding that such an attack on two of the U.S. Navy’s steel behemoths would claim upwards of 10,000 lives.

Lou went on to call America’s military, money, talent, voting system and fear of adversaries the five U.S. weaknesses that can be easily exploited, according to the report.

"We’ll see how frightened America is,” he said.

Adm Rickover said years ago that in a real war, all carriers would be gone in a week.

That would be all carriers of all nations.

Carriers are used for nations who don't have the missile technology sophisticated enough.

just one Ohio class submarine carries 24 Trident missiles, each with multiple nuclear warheads. All of his navy's home ports and many of China's major cities could be destroyed in minutes. For the sake of the planet he might not want to play chicken with the lunatic we now have in the White House.

We nuke China and its nuclear war with both of them.

Taiwan would be best served by beginning talks with the People’s Republic about becoming a SAR (Special Administrative Region) like Hong Kong.

initiate to enforce our presence in South China Sea territory claimed by China.

We would not escalate our own blunder by going to a nuclear war. Well we could but that would be the end of the game.

we've been rattling sabers at them in the south China Sea over the last month. I doubt that the Chinese govt would have let this statement go public if it were not for other factors like the arrest of the Huawei executive (who happens to be the daughter of one of the richest men in China).

This is what I'm getting from what is being talked about inside China. They are taking this quite seriously. But our MSM hardly mentioned it - if at all. Twittler is looking for any excuse to take our minds off his 17 criminal investigations and govt. shutdown.

I think that was Justice Department all the way. I also think they've had their sights on Huawei for some time. Rumours I got is that they were up to some pretty nefarious stuff, and not just in the U.S.

Truth be told, as a former carrier sailor , I'm a lot more scared of having China as an opponent than Russia. But on the bright side, at least their government isn't a merely a ham-fisted group of gangsters like Russia and have more sense than doing anything like the admiral threatened.

like Yuan. You can't dissuade maniacs like Yuan with anything short of that.
Luckily, he's talking smack. However, this does point to the fact that
we need adults in charge of military policy - and the current
administration puts us all at risk. And for those who say, "Oh, we can't use
nukes - that's a right winger position." You're wrong. An attack on our carriers
would be an outright declaration of war - one that we can't afford to lose.
The thing is - these situations ARISE because of weak leadership at the top.
Trump has shown incredible carelessness with his inconsistent rhetoric which alternates
weak and bellicose. Terrible combination.
