(4,292 posts)What kind of safety-net is available to federal employees and soon SNAP recipients? The reason I ask is because my parents were career civil service, and Im thankful nothing like this happened while I was growing up.
Is it community by community? I know my credit union is offering interest-free loans and financial counseling. And Im sure local food pantries are geared up. Of course, United Way information & referral lines are standing by, despite the fact that the feds do their own workplace-giving drives (AKA Combined Federal Campaign).
Has any nationwide organization stepped up and taken the lead in channeling support and resources for families?
Id be willing to donate to a real foundation or 501(c)3 organization that would help.
