How does the legislative process work?
The President is in charge of the Executive Branch. He takes care that the laws are duly executed.
The House and Senate are in charge of the Legislative Branch. Legislation must be passed by both the House and Senate and signed by the President before it can become a law.
The Judiciary Branch, including the Supreme Court, can rule on the constitutionality of the laws passed by the Congress and signed by the President.
Politicians in Washington are not adhering to the rules of our Constitution.

(129,983 posts)THEY are the ones who continue to perpetuate misinformation by merely echoing the lies coming from the GOP instead of TEACHING.
I remember they did that all through the drafting of the ACA. Their continual promotion of "the bill" without mentioning the fact that at least 6 committees (or more) from BOTH chambers of Congress, were drafting "bills". So there was no "the bill". And then once some iteration was ready for a vote from one chamber, the assumption was that THAT was "the bill", without mentioning that it needed to be reconciled with the other chamber's "bill".... and on and on.
It's just infuriating.

(16,646 posts)Truth is, there could be alot of grammar updating as well. But really, the "liberal education" is sadly lacking. As much as I wish we would see more people give more attention to their STEM education, the loss of basic fundamentals like logic and rhetoric is traceable to many common problems.

(111,111 posts)The media is playing the game that the "negotiation" is between Trump and the Democratic House. That is all wrong. The House passed the bill already and sent it to the Senate. It is the responsibility of the Senate to pass it or change it. The media pretends that the Senate has no role to play in this "shutdown". At the moment, they are the only player.
