After all the hype and suspense about the speech, how can I not watch?

I was very much against watching dump's speech. Canceled Rachel and Cuomo to make sure I didn't contribute a single minute of viewing... but I spoke with my mom earlier and she's on pins and needles wondering if he will declare martial law tonight. I told her there's no way that will happen but she said she doesn't know what to believe anymore.

Then we have the question of whether the networks will do real time fact checking--which would be absolutely epic and popcorn worthy. Uggh! It's frustrating to feel myself caving. I suppose this is what the networks correctly anticipated when they decided to air it.

I'd rather be thrown naked into a Turkish prison.
I'd rather lance an infected hemorrhoid with a plastic picnic fork.

Trump's voice makes my skin crawl. His face - sort of a cross between a rotting potato and an old man's scrotum, done in Cheeto-orange - makes me want to blow lunch. I'll be enjoying Netflix this evening.

contributing to his drama mongering.

You couldn't force me to watch it, and I'm not going to be any less informed about it than you, though maybe a few minutes later. But I'm not encouraging the networks to play his ridiculous games. I won't be part of that.

this is all a trump-generated crisis where there is no crisis and everyone is playing into his hands.

The best possible thing would be if the ratings totally flopped. If it flops - which I doubt it will - I will know that our country will survive him. Otherwise I will have to still hope America wakes up soon.

Personally, I'm suspicious this is going to be a fear mongering speech to attempt that further down the road if it rates well with his base in subsequent polling.

No real-time fact checking, but Schumer and Pelosi get their time after the event to introduce facts vs. fiction.

It's 8 minutes of Trump reading a script live... what can go wrong, right? Right?! *manic laugh*
