How Do Repugs Even Think That Trump Has A Chance For Re-Election In 2020?.....

They can't be that brain dead. All they have to do is recall what happened in the November 2018 Midterm. The Repugs were pretty much whipped and mostly because of Trump.

Why do they continue to bet their future on Trump going forward? Does anyone really believe that Trump has a chance on getting re-elected? One would think that the Repugs would be doing everything that they can now to distance themselves from Trump. I just don't get it. What is he holding over them to make them keep on supporting him?

Most of their base believes in a "Christian Nation", not a secular one, after all. And most of their base would happily hand over most of their tax dollars just to ensure that it's only White Property Owners that have the franchise going forward.

after losing 63 House seats in 2010, PBO came back to win 2012--decisively.

Republicans in the Senate are more worried about what trump, and Putin, have on them, and they know if they don't stick with trump he will expose them, and they wrongly believe trump can save save them in the long run from any "legal" problems like maybe jail time!

...from a political standpoint it doesn't really matter so much if Trump gets reelected for most of them. The majority of republicans in congress are in red states and districts where their only real threat is from being primaried. So they are a lot more worried about protecting their right flank than anything else. That means not pissing off the Trumpsters whether they think Trump's an idiot or has a chance to win or not.

Polling just done by PPP which is a Democratic pollster in North Carolina, which is a swing state, shows Trump beating some Democrats and losing to others.

Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders are the best known Democrats, with levels of name
recognition in the 80s, and Biden leads Trump 49-44 with Sanders leading Trump 48-45.
Elizabeth Warren is the next best known with her level of name recognition in the 70s,
and she ties Trump at 46%. Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke, and Cory Booker all have
levels of name recognition in the 50s. Harris ties Trump at 45%, with Booker and
O’Rourke each a tick behind Trump at 46-45.

is because Obama was reelected in 2012 after losing congress in 2010. Here are the problems with that theory one thing is Obama actually won the popular vote another thing is Obama wasn't corrupt like Trump and Obama lost the congress in 2010 because of low turnout. There will not be a low turnout election to save Trump and repukes in 2020, but maybe Russia could still for them again.

and a solid group of racist supporters whose vote will never be in doubt. What they have to count on is suppressing the vote for the masses, and non-whites in particular...I'm sure they're on top of it.

Then again, they may just be counting on this bunch's evident complete disregard for the rule of law or any norms of government functioning, so just assuming that polls indicating an across the board GOP defeat would constitute a "national emergency," and elections would therefore be suspended indefinitely and so on. Or they can manufacture some kind of catastrophe and use that as the excuse.
