(10,170 posts)Republicans seem not to be worried at all that voters will hold them accountable in 2020. This is curious because they must know that Mueller has the goods on Trump, and he may not even be the nominee in 2020 so why the blind support now? Trumps base is no larger than 40%, so Republicans need independents to win, and those voters are not the rabid Republicans who will vote for any Republican candidate no matter how corrupt he is. Is it possible that Republicans in Congress are not worried about voters because they have the elections so rigged that they will not lose? There is a reason why Mitch McConnell refused a hearing for Merrick Garland. He did not necessarily know that the nominee would be Trump, but he knew that whoever the Republican nominee was in 2016 would win.
