The news briefing is going on and on about all the people that were involved. They are taking credit for her saving herself.
The fact remains Jamye saved herself! They should be honoring her courage to run away and get help for herself!
So far, not one word about Jamye doing all the work of being found.

(17,235 posts)I thought the very same thing. Finally a woman is recognizing Jayme's efforts to save herself!

Yes, finally, a woman is honoring her.

(43,232 posts)I had no clue as to the underlying story from the OP.
Glad she's fine.

(24,259 posts)I didn't know the story either. That poor girl but she's amazing to have taken the opportunity to escape and get help for herself.

(24,259 posts)I'm sorry you don't approve of the source, I can't say I was thrilled to use it, but the fact is that I did a quick google and used the top link, to what, at the time, was still a breaking news story, and this particular story looked like it actually had a decent amount of info.
There are quite a few more stories and sources now that pop up so please feel free to find a different decent MSM source that isn't owned by a big RW corporation.

(146,351 posts)She got out, went up to a woman who was walking her dog, and they went to a house and called 911. The cops didn't find her. She escaped and found someone to help her.
Too much credit being taken by the authorities here. There was no "finding her" involved at all. In fact, they failed to find her for almost three months.

(6,344 posts)They went on and on for 15-20 minutes! Patting themselves on the back.
Finally, the reporters asked things like, "did you look in Gordon?" NO! was the answer.
They had NOTHING to do with her being found. She found herself.
Okay. I get it they worked hard and cared. Good. But present it that way, not taking credit. Puke.

(146,351 posts)But, there it is.
I'm still very concerned for the victim, though. She's going to be bombarded by people with questions about what has happened. It's going to be very, very stressful for her. I imagine there will be a long period during which she needs therapy.
Looking at the young man who killed her parents and abducted here, I immediately thought of the word, "Incel." I imagine the time she was with him was very unpleasant, indeed.

(146,351 posts)Nobody can, I think, except another victim, perhaps. Whatever the rest of us might think, such an experience can't really be imagined fully. I'm so sorry it happened to her. I hope she can somehow recover from it.

(12,448 posts)I'm glad she has family, an aunt and a grandfather, to help her through recovery.

SHE did it. What bravery!
