Samirah wins Democratic nomination for 86th House of Delegates District special election

Ibraheem Samirah today secured the Democratic nomination for the 86th House of Delegates District special election next month.

The seat is open due to Jennifer Boysko’s election to the 33rd District state Senate seat earlier this week.

Samirah, a dentist, defeated retired Army veteran Kofi Annan, public affairs consultant Chad Thompson, and lawyer and former Herndon Mayor Mike O’Reilly for the nomination.

“As your delegate I will make sure change comes to the 86th District and to Virginia as a whole,” Samirah said on Facebook.

Local Republicans have not yet announced their plans to nominate a candidate.

The special election will be held Feb. 19.
