This Makes Me So Angry

Every time our party gains some power there are people both inside the party and outside that rail against them. Every dayum time we gain power we come in and have to clean up the total destruction that the GOP left behind. Every dayum time we need to clean up to move us forward.

It happened with Obama. He came in holding the bag for a near Depression, stock markets falling, life savings dwindling, job loss and companies failing and a party leader that vowed in a secret meeting on election night that he would see to it that he was a one term President. See what was happening here? Then the high we all had for his win dwindled for some, not me, frankly I was appalled with what I was seeing unfold, but for some. His campaign promises were not fulfilled fast enough. No matter that he pulled us from the brink of a Depression he just didn't do enough, fast enough good enough or for Me Me Me.

It is happening again with our beautiful new BLUE congress. Once again cleaning up after the GOP defecated on our constitution and flag for the past few years. They just gained power two weeks ago after being sworn in and I am already seeing posts ***what the hell are they waiting for.*** Subpoena...lock him up. Then their is the division from within.
Our congress is fully prepared. They did their homework. If what you see or perceive to see as reluctance then sit back, you ain't seen nothing yet. This congress is going to rock us.

You know, hopes and dreams are a wonderful thing we all have them. As children there was an Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy and Santa. As adults we know they aren't true, but a dream for a better future is. That in fact takes hard work and not just a sound bite.

For the future of our children and planet I want medicare for all, I want green energy climate change initiatives, equality. Social justice and economic justice walking hand in hand with out one taking steps before the other.

This all takes hard work, not just talk but real honest to Goddess work. It also takes voting for Democrats. Fact is we have a beautiful blue congress packed to the gills with progressives of all colors and ages.

I'm thinking that must not have been much of a Democratic board.

All the flack O had to take from racists made me sick. He was a great president. He accomplished great things. After eight years of his stewardship, he passed a prosperous nation to the traitor Trump, who has set us back decades in two short, destructive years.

I think the blue House is a precursor to us taking the government after the Republican party self-destructs in an orgy of treasonous corruption. It's already unraveling. They will go the way of the Whigs way back when.

There's going to be a very big dust-up, and with luck this nation will still be standing when it is over. At that point, I believe it is our party that will evolve into a centrist group and a progressive group.

Now, I'm quite progressive, but I was not for someone 'younger' to be Speaker. We needed Pelosi. More specifically, her experience. We're in uncharted territory here. I'm thinking that much of the GOP, more than we might think, are involved with Russia - the party itself has become a treasonous canker throbbing on our body-politic, and with today's news it is finally beginning to look as though it will finally be excised.

But there will be a big dust up first - a full blown Constitutional crisis. No...Pelosi knows she needs to keep the young ones in check until the time is right, and I believe she'll be a more effective manager of our progressive youth than Boehner was his 'freedom caucus.'

In the meantime, I love AOC. She's really twisting up the old right-wing blogosphere.

That was an over-the-top ad hominem attack.

I can remember participating in debates about TPP. There were some things I genuinely disliked about it - the secrecy, the ISDS portions. I see now that farmers are being hurt yet again because Trump withdrew us from TPP on his third day in office - so basically other markets around the Pacific Rim are closed to them now, not just China.

I'm smiling and shaking my head now, because I downloaded the TPP agreement from Wikileaks and actually waded through the thing. That was a complicated agreement. It really was.

And, yes, I did criticize Obama over the secrecy surrounding it - letting congress members read it but not allowing them to take notes or have copies. I actually, if you will recall, got banned from a room over it.

To my mind we must always be careful - if a Democrat does something that we don't like, debate is good, and we had a vigorous one about TPP.

But Obama was not then, and has never been, anything like a 'used car salesman.' He acted in good faith.

I was proud of him as president, and still think he was the best in my lifetime, but I wouldn't be human if I had agreed with everything the man did.

That an outdated Sarandonesque and Uyguresque and destructive "Justice Democrats" way of thinking. It will set us behind every time. It gives the advantage to the GOP every time. Anything that weakens Democrats only serves to benefit the GOP (and Russia). It serves no good purpose to do things that benefit Russia.

and there are Sarandons and Cenks of this world who perhaps get a lot of money from republicans and some independents who want to take advantage of the frustrating situation the electorate finds itself in.

Some easily persuadable "low hanging fruit" are manipulated by the non-democrats claiming to be democrats or claiming to be "every bit as good if not better" and are spurred on to attack the democrats and the democratic party from within.

I know that the frustration level is high in the electorate and probably higher among some old timers who are impatient for a change.

However, attacking our own people is tantamount to democratic soldiers shooting each other because the war against the republicans is not going so well. It makes no sense. Recruiting a general from outside the party when our party has seasoned commanders makes even less sense.

Who is going to care for the party and its values if we destroy it with infighting?

I think it’s a response to a problem that neither Republicans or Democrats have been able to address and that is growing income inequality. When I look at my college town in Oregon where there was one homeless woman in the 80’s and contrast that to today with homeless people holding cardboard signs on street corners everywhere, I know something has gone really wrong. It’s frustrating to see Democrats gain power and be unable to address the problem significantly. But Wall Street has a hold on Democrats too. Money has too much sway in both parties. I don’t know what the answer is. And climate change clouds my brain further.

I don’t think we have time to deal with impeachment while workers aren’t being paid, our national parks aren’t being protected, our airports aren’t secure, food stamps recipients are in jeopardy, tax returns will be delayed, etc., etc.

That said, we are conducting investigations while trying to put shit back on track. Impeachment will probably be the result of those investigations.
