Trump trashed them immediately. He has no respect for the public's right to know everything he does as President.

...Cheeto will make up a name for her, call her an Obama holdover, and say "what do you expect her to say - she's a Dem".

There's only 3 people and 1 institution who know what was really said in that room...Trump, Putin, the translator...and the Russian Intelligence apparatus. Other than that - nobody else needs to know in Trump's opinion.

What an asshat.

While it appears that Putin really was and is an "advisor," technically he's the head of an adversary state, so I don't see how Tiny could claim executive privilege. In some cases it might also be used to withhold sensitive national security or diplomatic information, which is probably what they'd claim. However, there's no way to know whether the conversations with Putin fall into that category unless the claim of privilege is contested. How can Tiny claim to have been discussing sensitive national security or diplomatic matters with Putin if he won't tell anybody, including his own State Department officials, what he discussed?

He wasn't discussing matters with her; she's no more a member of his staff for the purposes of executive privilege than Google Translate (except that the human translator would have been more accurate).

When the circumstances are this fishy it seems to me that a very good argument could be made for piercing the privilege.

Oh, wait a minute ... That's exactly what they memorialize.

So, yes, Putin could invoke executive privilege.

Putin is a lot smarter than Trump. If I was Finland, I would definitely bug that room. Putin may have figured that too. Trump may have gone into that meeting hoping to have a conversation about what they had over him, but Putin played it straight. Putin also would have been smart enough to know that the info could have been gotten from the translator.
