Tucker Carlson: Tulsi Gabbard's Being 'Smeared' With Dishonest Attacks

by Josh Feldman | Jan 14th, 2019, 9:26 pm

Tucker Carlson ended his show Monday night with a defense of Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard on the “dishonest” attacks against her.

Gabbard said a few days ago she’s made the decision to run for president and, as Carlson put it, “since then she has been savaged by the left.”

“Gabbard is a veteran of the Iraq War. She’s been smeared as a puppet of Bashar Assad in Syria because she opposes keeping American troops in that country,” Carlson said.

He also brought up the controversy surrounding her past anti-gay views. CNN’s KFILE reported this weekend on Gabbard’s past work for an anti-gay group that promoted conversion therapy. In a statement, she said, “I regret the positions I took in the past, and the things I said. I’m grateful for those in the LGBTQ+ community who have shared their aloha with me throughout my personal journey… Much work remains to ensure equality and civil rights protections for LGBTQ+ Americans and if elected President, I will continue to fight for equal rights for all.”

Carlson then spoke with Glenn Greenwald and asked how she became an “enemy” to people. Greenwald, while noting some issues he doesn’t agree with Gabbard on, said it’s because of her resignation from the DNC (and subsequent support of Bernie Sanders) and because “she’s been questioning a lot of Washington orthodoxy that both political parties support, including why it is we continue to try to change the regimes of countries far away in like Syria and why we continue to prop up regimes that make the world hate us like we do in Saudi Arabia.”

Carlson added that there’s something “dishonest about the way they're attacking her.”

“If you don’t like her foreign policy views, then just say so,” he continued. “But no one ever really wants to debate what our foreign policy should be, they just attack anybody who deviates from their own dumb ideas.”

10. Actually, many of Gabbard's positions align closely with Trump's and Putin's.

Gabbard is in favor of isolationism and authoritarian nationalism. No wonder Tucker likes her.

then he and the rest of them would defend AOC in a similar manner, but you never see that. No, it's a pretty clear indicator of who Tabbard really is. Her decision to run just might come back to bite her long term because it's going to expose this reality on a bigger stage.

Let the truths begin. Why doesn't she run as a Republican?
