(51,674 posts)indictment isn't necessarily off the table and it can be done. It is the pundits who are saying he can't be indicted based on the DOJ.

(6,297 posts)They're just creating talking points designed to get people to watch them some more and watch the commercials.
We have to stop taking this shit seriously and recognize it for what it is: an industry that makes a fortune by getting people riled up. It's show business.

(54,770 posts)to hang the jury? Besides, chances of it going to trial anytime soon is small. Impeachment is possible, but conviction is unlikely unless Mueller has something we dont even suspect. If he does have that evidence, its past time to release it.
Assuming Mueller has hard evidence, if he released it tomorrow it would still take a year or more for anything to happen.
I dont think trump will run in 2020, but I think there are plenty of white wingers to support some GOPer like Romney, Pence, or worse, who swears they rid Washington of trumpsters.

(26,366 posts)Even if he can be indicted, indictment doesn't remove him from office and the courts could decide he couldn't
be tried until he leaves office.

(42,867 posts)At least not at the Federal level. At the federal level, DOJ isn't going to pursue an indictment of a sitting president as long as their official position is that a president can't be indicted, so whether that position is right or wrong, it isn't going to be challenged.
And while some state might decide to challenge the position that a sitting president can't be indicted, they're unlikely to do so since he can't be tried until after he's removed from office.
