Holy sh*t, even Merriam-Webster dictionary is trolling Trump, I'm not kidding! 'Suborn' ....

Ok, I decided a couple years ago that The Onion was basically dead. But I think we are now crossing over into some kind of time-space continuum here

Merriam-Webster tweeted this out not long after the Cohen story broke ....

'Suborn'
- specifically: to induce to commit perjury
- broadly: to induce secretly to do an unlawful thing

It hasn't even been "subtle". It's been outright in the face!!

I only used 'subtly' because it goes right over the heads of some, mostly the few Trump fans who follow them or that I've shared it with.

Follow them on Facebook. They drive me nuts because they're fairly well educated and not 'stupid' in so many other areas. It's like there's some weird Trumpian wall in their brain.

they may tend to have a "single issue" (tunnel vision) focus in life that overrides every other subject, and he fulfills that single issue.

That makes sense.

The other, at least for one family member, is foolish pride. From the way they've stopped defending him I'm almost positive that it's clicked in that they've been suckered by a snake oil con man, they just can't admit it out loud yet.

"Foolish pride" is definitely a factor and sometimes they are waiting for the right moment (or egregious event to blame for the change of heart) that allows them to save face. The transition usually goes along the line of "well both sides blah blah..." to imply they had no other choice but could have gone another way.

the word of the day had been "festooned" because he uttered that (old-fashioned) term during the first debate. I noticed the word is being used again in general.
