Am I being overly optimistic?

Impeachment goes full bore. The Buzzfeed story is a game changer, if in fact they have the documentation to prove he coerced Cohen to lie to Congress. Clear cut obstruction, can no longer can be written off as fake news, even among the Trump Davidians.

Republicans in the Senate realize the evidence of a serious crime, and have to think along the lines that they may lose their Senate seat if they DON'T vote to impeach, as there are enough fence sitting voters out there who won't tolerate protecting the president any more, where previously, repug Senators can hide behind a "he said he said" mantra, and their voting base will buy it. But it's a different world now, and they have no choice but to vote to remove dumbfuck. Their legacy is at stake.

Too optimistic on a Friday?

the House of Representatives is the body whose job it would be to impeach.

Impeachment is the process by which a legislative body levels charges against a government official. It does not mean removal from office; it is only a statement of charges, akin to an indictment in criminal law. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment

The Senate holds a trial in which the Senators decide to convict and remove from office. The Chief Justice of the SCOTUS presides over the trial.

the critical part. Before yesterday I shared the pessimism that a vote to remove would ever take place given the current makeup. Now I'm given to hope.

Like I say overly optimistic maybe. But it's Friday.

but then again I already thought that...this should make it crystal clear to anybody that may have been "on the fence" or just couldn't believe it was possible for this nation to get to a point where we have a Russian-controlled asset in the WH, and the whole thing just seems too hard to swallow, like it should be impossible for someone with such a criminal history to be in this position--they may have thought it was exaggerated for "political" purposes or whatever...but if this story is corroborated and there is clear evidence of such obvious crimes, I don't see how Congress actually has any choice in the matter.

If impeachment doesn't proceed in short order, the American people need to literally march in the streets until it starts. This is not fucking right.
