You may be right about "planted" stories, but this one isn't planted, it's real.

Keep in mind that this story wasn't based on documents or testimony from Michael Cohen, who has admitted to lying on previous occasions. It's based on emails, documents and testimony from other sources who corroborated Cohen. Mueller knows what to look for and what questions he needs to ask. This story may have been carefully leaked by Mueller's office, but we don't know the source yet. If Mueller did leak it, he has a good reason.

I suspect it is true, just nervous we get caught in a planted story trap and give more momentum to the unwashed.

From statements in the record (from Mueller or NY, can't remember), we know Cohen coordinated his statements with someone and that he knew the statements were false. This new story just adds that it is directed by Trump.
