So let me get this straight: T directed Cohen to lie to Congress?

And Cohen actually did it?

If that is correct (and AFAIK, it hasn't been proven yet but I may be incorrect):

Cohen's a lawyer. How blankety-blank dumb is that?

Cohen was loyal to Trump, was likely already in deep with unethical behavior, and figured he might have an out through Trump. His being a lawyer does give him more knowledge of the intricacies of the law, but it doesn't inoculate you to unethical or just plain stupid behavior.
