As you may know, I have centered on supporting Kamala Harris if she runs for president. However, another woman has stood up to, and bested, Trump in a very public and embarrasing (for him) way and has emerged as a powerful woman, fully capable of being our next President:
NANCY PELOSI.
I know, I know. We need her as Speaker. Her political skills are messing up Trump big time.
But she has shown surpassingly great skill and leadership. 2020 will be our acid test and we need the best we got and that might turn out to be Nancy.
Did anyone else over the past few days have the same thoughts as I had?
Or am I just plain nuts...

(58,792 posts)Now, I really think she has retirement in mind, maybe not as soon as 2020, but definitely before 2024. She promised to prepare a new speaker to take over the gavel-or at least leadership of the Dem Party-and I believe her.
She has been and still is a warrior, but I'll put my agist hat on and say we need new blood in 2020.

(6,294 posts)Nancy is 78 years old. I think a lot of my support will depend on who her running mate is. If it's Kamala, and at this point in time, I'm in.

(40,247 posts)That would mean that if she ran and won she would turn 81 right after being inaugurated. Even though age means something different in our times, that would still be very old for a president.

(326 posts)I have a lot of respect for Pelosi and for Biden, but I would much rather see a younger candidate for President who can serve for 8 years in the WH.

(39,343 posts)We'll need strong leaders to fix this shit.
That said, I'm still hopeful that Pelosi ends up as President by this Summer and we run from a position of strength in 2020.

The line of succession follows the order of Vice President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, President pro tempore of the Senate, and then the eligible heads of federal executive departments who form the president's Cabinet.

(2,959 posts)people who actually want to run for that office is my advice.
BTW any average elected legislative office holder has greater potential of benefiting our country and any term limited president.
