BREAKING: Trump to offer temporary protections for undocumented 'dreamers' in exchange for $5.7 bil

Trump to offer temporary protections for undocumented ‘dreamers’ in exchange for $5.7 billion for border wall, GOP officials say

BREAKING NEWS: The president is expected to detail the proposal to Democrats in a rare Saturday address at 4 p.m. It comes as the record-breaking government shutdown entered its 29th day.

This story will be updated.

President Trump is preparing to make a new offer to Democrats that could end the record-breaking government shutdown in a rare Saturday address from the White House, while stopping short of declaring a national emergency on the southern border.

With the shutdown in its 29th day, Trump was expected to propose items he believes Democrats favor as part of a broader border-security package, according to two people familiar with White House planning. The hope is the proposal would revive negotiations with congressional Democrats, which have been nonexistent for days.

Trump doesn't want to risk greater excoriation from Coulter and Limbaugh who would have a cow if he offered Dreamers permanent status.

This will just be another stunt by Trump and Republicans who are anxious to stop the bleeding - and attempt to reverse the blame for his shutdown on the democrats.

I hope Pelosi, Schumer, and the Democrats reject this offer. I plan to call Pelosi's and Schumer's office Monday to encourage them to oppose this offer. I may even call the Representatives closest to my residence to encourage them to not support this offer.

Think about it DACA is way more popular with the American people than the wall. That makes this an uneven offer. He should do DACA for next to nothing given its popularity.

Shouldn't even waste their time and cover him. Ignore.him!

The fact is that he had 2 years with a Republican majority in BOTH the Senate and House. He and the R'Con party could have pushed for a stupid unnecessary expensive wall then and gotten it right up until the day Democrats took over the House of Reps.

If Trumplicans could shove their friggin tax cuts for the rich through like they did, they could have shoved his stupid wall through too BUT Trump didn't push for it and the Republican controlled Senate and House didn't even bother to try until they realised that Democrats were probably going to take the House and then it becomes some big 'must have'? Ted's

Horsepucky! Republicans and Trump are playing their BS drum up fear and LIE game again. This is their pattern and their base keeps being suckered into it like Lucy does Charlie Brown with the football. You'd think they have seen the pattern... Geesh.

This is not a budget negotiation. The GOP keeps pulling this shit. There should not be any strings attached to keeping the government running.

When the government reopens fix the DACA problem permanently.

Any discussion on more barriers should remove the law that allows environmental regulations to be waived . It’s still a worse than useless waste of money since you have to oay for maintenance and repair. People who walked 2000 miles won’t be stopped by a wall.
