Lots of talk on the news tonight that when enough TSA agents call in sick,
it will shut down the airlines,
and Trump will have to open the government.
Maybe he'll say "F" em and bring in the miltary to do screening?

(16,548 posts)Saint Ronnie played the long game back then by secretly training the fired ATCs replacements before he fired them. The military ATCs were used as a transition.
In this case youd have a bunch of soldiers who dont want to be there and arent trained on how to run the millimeter wave scanners so many airports use now. It would be a cluster fuck.

(31,275 posts)is that he can't do it. There would be an uproar in the contracting world. Look around an airport and the TSA has numerous subcontractors directing people through the security lines.

(15,470 posts)While the small fry have a large percentage of the TSA agents under contract, they probably don't represent a very big slice of the federal contracting handouts.
Since tdump is totally incapable of actually enunciating a sentence, let alone a directive, someone that has hands in deep pockets is helping him disrupt the US economy and government and plans to profit BIGLY.
Some of these may be existing US contractors that have played games in government for decades, and some may be foreign interests - ones that have been also playing for a long time.
So, shorter story: Dump is planning on closing gov't and replacing with mercenaries. Just my 0.02₽

(31,275 posts)In 2002 I worked for a subcontractor of Lockheed Martin upgrading airport security. The program/project was known as SASR...Strategic Airport Security Rollout. Turns out I was employed by a sub/subcontractor. Government contracting is a joke. It's always the big guys that get the contracts one way or another.

The sheeple wanting to go visit grandma will be much more compliant. Just what Herr Doktor ordered.

Maybe military police, but I would imagine theyre needed elsewhere.

(50,601 posts)TSA serves a law enforcement function. The US Military is forbidden by the Posse Comitatus Act from doing law enforcement against civilians in the US.
I wouldn't put it past Trump to try it, but directing the military to do law enforcement in the US is an illegal order.
