My wife and I had dinner last night with John Hickenlooper...

He is a very compelling prospective candidate with a strong record of accomplishments in Colorado. Somewhat policy wonkish, but he's able to discuss issues (college tuition, health care, clean energy, broadband) in terms of impacting "real people".

Did you get anything from him on his plan to address wealth concentration and billionaires buying politicians? Because that’s the core issue on which everything else depends. ( Along with the influence of the rightwing media.)

I know this is a ridiculous observation, but I think people will not
want a POTUS named Hickenlooper. Even my spell-checker alerts on it.
As a policy wonk, he would be great in an administration.
Secretary of the Interior perhaps.

...and no, I am *not* making any comparisons between the two, except for what you mentioned--a rather unfortunate name. But one wonders, in all seriousness, if Adolf would have gained power had his daddy retained their original name. As for Col's gov...well, if "Eisenhower" could be elected, I suppose "Hickenlooper" could be. And for that matter, a President named Obama...

I can't get past his love of oil & gas.

He was my governor. I voted for him. Twice. And yet, here we are.

On edit. Make that four times. He was our mayor as well.
