Sarah Sanders Defends Not Holding Press Briefings: Not in the Business of Making Stars Out of CNN Wannabes
by Ken Meyer | Jan 23rd, 2019, 9:38 am
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended her lack of press briefings from the last few months by saying reporters have largely abandoned decorum for the sake of boosting their own profiles.
Sanders was asked about President Donald Trump recent tweet saying he told her not to bother with briefings anymore because of the rude and inaccurate coverage she gets from the fake news media. As the White House Correspondents Association pushes back on Trump for his retreat from transparency and accountability, Sanders called it absolutely laughable to say the administration is inaccessible to the media, given how often she and Trump hold gaggles with the press.
I stopped last night after I finished an interview where I took more questions from a gaggle reporters standing outside building behind me, Sanders said. Im sure I will do that in a few minutes. The president takes questions nearly every single day from reporters. Were on call 24 hours a day
When Brian Kilmeade tried to nail down whether briefings are done with, Sanders left the question open-ended while accusing members of the media of pursuing fame over responsible and honest reporting.
As the president said yesterday, he doesnt like the decorum in the White House. Were in the business of getting information to the American people, not making stars out of people that want to become contributors on CNN and that is a lot of times what we see take place in the briefing room.

Something they don't really have.
Creating a new status quo before house investigations start ramping up and Mueller finishes his report. With us taking the house serious information should be flowing out in under a month or so. It won't take long.

Helps his tweets be the only messages, while questioning type input is blocked.
