Trump says hes going to Congress to deliver the State of the Union next week no matter what. Huh
You know, I would like to give the State of the Union at the White House Rose Garden dressed in a kimono, but you see I'm not permitted there without permission of its boss either.

(3,813 posts)Trump is trying to steamroll the notion of Congress as a co-equal branch of government.
Nancy Pelosi must stand up to an imperial pResidency as has never before threatened our country. This is more than mere symbolism.

Notice how she has a prepared response for each of his tantrums?

(9,426 posts)to him give a speech. We KNOW the Union is in a HELL of a STATE, thanks to him. He will blame the democratic side of the aisle, make asinine claims about his "beautiful wall" He should just tell the TRUTH. The wall is going to benefit his Russian oligarch friend, who owns a steel plant. tRump will receive 1/2 the money for personal use. He owes every unemployed government worker an apology, and then RESIGN. Let the adults take over, and get us back on track without Russian interference.

(8,898 posts)💪🏼 the title of the position says a lot. As a navy veteran Ops Specialist, all that held that position anywhere I was stationed, had massive freakin ARMS and trained to use them. Imagine the arms
Of someone in charge of protecting the house.

(15,202 posts)There is a reason for those words. And this guy knows that he works for Speaker Pelosi.

(1,115 posts)Cha, you may have saved me from getting kicked off DU.
I was being sarcastic but I didn't say so. The Rose Bowl used to be
the number one attraction for us Big Ten enthusiasts but now the
ardent rivalry between the Big Ten and Pac-12 is no longer a
Rose Bowl spectacle.
I was sarcastically implying that Trump should make his S.O.T.U.
speech at the Rose Bowl. Your fantastic reply helped me prove
my sarcasm. I was being reprimanded for being pro-trump.
Thanks!

(4,033 posts)And he is about to discover that there is actually a woman who can and will say NO to him.
If he had ever bothered to get an education he might want to brush up on what happened to Charles I when he decided to force his way into Parliament in 1642. (Hint: it did not go well for the King.)

(10,240 posts)He's a coward so no he wont be in the midst of a battle. Maybe he'll send in armed military personnel to break down the door. Then after everything is safe, he'all go in and give his speech.
Do you think the Senate would impeach then?
They wouldn't ...

(13,485 posts)She doesn't have to let the reps, senate, the SC, the media, the camera crew or the janitorial staff in. She can empty the place. Then what is 45 going to do about that, force his way into an empty chamber?

You bet!
Cadet bone spurs?
Even if he dressed up as The Mikados Yum Yum and sang a falsetto soprano version of the SOTU.
Or better still, as Ciocio-san from Madame Butterfly especially if it includes him(her) committing hara-kiri, in costume and on stage not without Speaker Pelosis permission!
Aint gonna happen.
Stay strong Speaker Pelosi! Stand your ground!
