https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/23/us/politics/sheila-jackson-lee-cbc-chairwoman.htmlThis whole thing stinks last last years' gym socks. It has Russian compromat written all over it in big letters. And I predict that we will suddenly hear from a lot of "Democrats" who always knew that Lee was an an enabler of rapists. They could see it in her eyes. And they want her out of office now. Even if it means the Republican Texas governor gets to name her replacement until a special election can be held. Such a woman should never be able to sit in judgment of Trump. It would undermine the Democratic cause! It would make our party look bad!
"That's a nice Congress you have there," says Rudi "the Mob Lawyer" Guiliani. "We wouldn't want to see something happen to it."

(94,974 posts)2. Do you have some actual evidence, or just "we all know"?
Did the Republicans sneak someone onto staff who would then risk a perjury charge by filing an actual lawsuit?

(7,143 posts)3. As to this:
The congresswoman is confident that, once all of the facts come to light, her office will be exonerated of any retaliatory or otherwise improper conduct and this matter will be put to rest, the statement said.
Fat lot of good that'll do. Once an allegation's been made, it's etched in stone.

Used far too often these days, especially in the court of public opinion.

(56,829 posts)7. Elizabeth Esty (D-CT) chose not to run again last year
Due to similar allegations - that her Chief of Staff sexually harassed some women on her staff and that she didn't stop it.
But, we ended up with former National Teacher of the Year Jahana Hayes in her place. Along with Ayanna Presley in Mass, the first two women of color in Congress from New England.

I don't think that's how it works for House members (only Senators)
