Only 28% say it’s worth the shutdown. Trump’s approval is mired at 36%. Large majorities — again, including independents — say the border can be secured without the wall.”

“Trump’s public position is weakening. The restrictionist right wing he’s appeasing — the one that Trump and Miller played to by salting the ‘compromise’ with poison pills, the one that would revolt if Trump made actual concessions to Democrats — is increasingly isolated.”

That's become critical for him recently, while it wasn't so much in play previously. Obviously he's been given his marching orders from PUtin. He also wants to destroy the FBI and IC so he can more easily commit treason without us finding out. This shutdown doesn't stop Mueller, but it does stop all the SDNY investigations against him, his family and his businesses, another reason he loves the shutdown.

Plus, it's just mean and is hurting American workers, and since a lot of those are Dems, he's laughing from spite all the time. He doesn't care that national security is being jeopardized, wouldn't put it past him to stage his Reichstagg Fire during the shutdown and say Dems are terrorists, when it's really him.
