at lunch that the shutdown is not smart political strategy and needs to end as soon as possible, per sources.

'GOP senators read Pence riot act before shutdown votes Frustrated GOP senators read Vice President Pence the riot act at a closed-door meeting Thursday, telling him the partial government shutdown needs to end soon, according to lawmakers in the room.

Republican senators, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), warned the vice president that prolonging the shutdown is not a smart political strategy, in hopes of sending a clear message to President Trump that he needs to resolve the crisis as soon as possible.

A spokesman for McConnell declined to comment on specific conversations during the private lunch but noted that the Kentucky Republican made his thoughts about a potential government shutdown clear in mid-December.'>>>

McConnell can always call for a vote on the House Bill, and allow it to pass the Senate.

McConnell has no more integrity than does Trump himself.

He is up to his eye balls in the Russian mess, or some other kind of blackmail, or maybe both. He knows trump would use it agains him if he crosses him, and Mitch cares more about his own ass than the country he took an oath to protect.

I also think some of the other republicans in the Senate are also compromised and are also more worried about what trump might use on them if they cross him than the oath they took when they were sworn in.

is only going to make things worse for the Republicans. If they were smart, they'd give Trump the heave-ho.
