I Hope You're Taking Note

I hope that all of you Trump voters, especially those who still support him (if there are any left), are taking note of what’s going on while you’re furloughed, or working without pay.

We’ve seen some of you in the media – the woman rationing her insulin because she can’t afford full doses, the parents of a toddler on a respirator who fear their electricity will be shut off, the families literally weeks away from eviction and homelessness. And you know what? The majority of people in this country sincerely hurt for you – and your political affiliation is not even a factor.

Decent Americans everywhere understand your situation, and feel somehow diminished themselves by the thought that anyone in this country would be put in your position for any reason.

But I hope you are taking note of the fact that the people who aren’t the least bit empathetic to your situation are the very people you voted for. I hope you are taking note that the party who relies on your votes, your financial contributions, your campaigning on their behalf, and your sometimes blind support is the party that doesn’t give a shit about you right now, when it matters most.

There probably isn’t a single elected Republican who hasn’t seen the media stories about your suffering, your anxiety, your very real fears about basic survival. And their advice has ranged from contacting your personal lawyer to negotiate with your creditors, to performing handyman chores for your landlord, to taking out loans – in other words, suck-it-up, shut-up, and fuck-off.

I hope you are taking note of who is on your side and wants to re-open the government and leave the border wall debate as a separate issue to be argued later – and who is insistent that you continue to suffer because your “president” has decided that your suffering is a lot less important than him getting what he wants.

Your “pResident” and his party have told you that you are “voluntarily” working without pay, that you are proud to sacrifice in order to build his Wall. The polls tell a different story. How many of you appreciate being portrayed as supporting something you don’t? How many of you are “voluntarily” facing the loss of your homes? How many of you are watching your children go without, while thinking it’s all for a more important cause?

Many of you are already relying on food banks in order to feed your families. Many of you are foregoing medical treatment because you can’t afford a doctor’s visit, or the price of prescription drugs. Many of you are fearful not only of personal catastrophe, but the catastrophic effects on your communities, your towns, your cities.

I hope you are taking note. And I hope you will remember what you have noted the next time you go to the polls.

2. I'd like to think so, but I don't have that much faith in trump voters anymore.

For the life of me I can't understand why ANYBODY would still support this schmuck after the mess we've seen him make over the last two years.

If there's one thing I think these smug MAGAts need to take from their hardships at the hand of the people they elected, is that they wanted this and went out of their way for this. Couldn't have Hillary Clinton as president, the double 69% approval rating public servant gal, simply because she was a woman or a democrat or because they were brainwashed into believing untruths about her or because their evangelical leaders made up lies about what a bad candidate she was...when nothing could have been further from the TRUTH!!!

I have little pity. Amends need to come from them. They need to not only show sorrow, but get into overdrive with convincing other MAGAts. That's where they must start at a minimum.

14. I don't mind it. It's character building and sets a precedent for others to follow.

I've made mistakes on occasion. I admit when I'm wrong. Sometimes it happens. But when you're wrong and you know it, own up to it. Your character is boosted by that mature decision.

Those who've been proven wrong and don't admit it are shallow, hollow. They lack character, in my estimation.

See for yourself sometime, if you haven't already done so.

... with those who are suffering - regardless of their politics - I'm having a hard time understanding how you are any different than those who are causing their suffering.

They don't care either.

13. Oh I empathize with people who suffer to a point. The scale they've made others suffer is my limit

For those who've made it their life's mission to see that their fellow American suffers, when their fellow man is looking out for their best interests, is where I draw the line. There's only so much punishment I'm willing to take.

So if I've been forced to take ten blows to the face, when it is a deliberate action to inflict harm upon me personally, but then I see the instigator take one blow, yeah, I'm not going to shed a tear when I hear them belly ache, especially when I hit back harder.

Sorry if fighting back offends. I wasn't brought up to be someone elses Bozo punching bag.

Guess what? The want and need just hit home for a lot of Trump supporters.

Game on.

Are finally showing as Senators turn on their own, blaming Pence, McConnell, Trump and all the gutless wonders.

6 voted for the Democratic bill, and from the sounds of the eruptions at the lunch yesterday this will soon be coming to an end. Hopefully for those suffering because of the ignorance, corruption and gross negligence of the Republican Party!

I think that it is Law in Colorado that an electric/gas customer can request a "CRITICAL LOAD" sticker be placed on their Gas or Electric shut offs. This prevents the Utility from shutting off either utility to the residence without a court order......
(like the case of the Baby on a register, or a house that has someone on oxygen supplied by an oxygen generator.......
