2. At least he is giving 800,000 or so people a 3 week notice to find a new job.

If I were one of them and I heard him say that...… I would be looking.

3. If you haven't been paid for a month it's anything but pointless

Yes it will suck if Trump shuts down the government again, but at least folks will get their back pay as well as their pay for the next few weeks.

Or would you prefer three more weeks of shutdown and chaos and then a "sound" resolution?

And maybe there won't be another one. But for now, at least, the one that was happening is over and folks are going to get paid and get back to their jobs.

But we're dealing with an unreliable, bad faith partner in the negotiations, namely the Trumpster and his enablers.

Three weeks offers relief to our Federal workers and gives the legislators time to bang something out. One of the first things is to make sure the back pay starts pouring into workers' bank accounts. As for the SOTU address, I wouldn't be surprised if Nancy Pelosi demands it be done after negotiations are complete, signed and off the table. She and the Trumpster agreed that both parties would settle/agree on a delivery date.

There's plenty more chaos ahead of us but this reduces the immediate threat of a catastrophic event ending the brouhaha abruptly, as in a horrible plane crash, a food/water contamination outbreak, a terrorist attack, etc. There has been a National Emergency, not on our southern border but across the country because of this wildly stupid government shutdown.

We now have a chance to turn it around. Because Trump finally capitulated.

And has already said that is yet to be agreed upon

And the chances of another shutdown are much slimmer now.
