Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible. Starting to make a turn back? Great!

They must be discussing this on Fox this morning.

The thing is, a proper Bible literacy class would be nothing like the Talibangelicals and their glorious parrot leader imagine it would be.

for high school. Before that not so much and definitely not in elementary school.

When you are reading Western literature, it is difficult to not spend time looking up the Biblical references. I am amazed when I return to books years later after studying the Bible more thoroughly on the things which I missed the first time.

what I don't trust is the willingness for elected school boards to police their classrooms.

The ideal of an objective Biblical literacy course is not what would happen in many areas. But that’s where the intra-religious skirmishes could heat up.

I grew up in a conservative denomination (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod) that as far as I knew stayed out of politics and operated their own school system so they could teach religion and other subjects according to their beliefs. Fair enough. I was dismayed in recent years to see them getting cozier and cozier with right wing groups closely associated with the Republican party. That is why I left.

They’re very cozy now, but what happens when the Bible knowledge courses at the public school are taught by a Baptist according to Baptist beliefs and the Lutherans and the Catholics have some serious issues with things that are taught? Could get interesting.

We're being governed by F&F.

Guess these theocrats have never heard of the separation of church and state.
