CNN political analyst April Ryan on Monday dropped some tantalizing hints about Roger Stones arrest last week, reluctantly offering a few details about a meeting Stone had held the night before at his house.
Just hours prior to the raid, Roger Stone had a gathering at his home with very influential people, Ryan said.
Influential people? Are you going to leave it at that? asked host Brianna Keilar. What kinds of people?
I had to fight just to get that one, replied Ryan before dishing. Close to the president. He had a gathering at his home hours prior to, and a source that was one of the sources said, you know, its interesting, the FBI was probably watching us when we were in that home.'

(81,608 posts)I heard some talking head yesterday pointing out how sloppy they are about covering their tracks. And making lots of careless mistakes. Well OF COURSE!!! Thats because THEYVE never had to before!!!!
Theyve NEVER had people looking over their shoulders before. Theyve NEVER had to face ANY accountability before. Theyve NEVER had to function in a fishbowl before - especially one like official Washington, where there are laws and regulations that have to be obeyed, Constitutional stipulations that have to be followed, committees and procedures that have to be acknowledged and complied with, permissions and votes and other approvals that have to be acquired, decisions and strategies that have to be approved before they can be implemented, and reporters around every corner and coming out of the woodwork looking for scoops and muckrakers and investigators looking for dirt - some of them with subpoena power.
This aint Midtown Manhattan. This aint the small, secretive, behind-closed-doors world of high-rollers and fast-talkers and wheeler-dealers and corner-cutters where you can get around the rules and make fishy deals with dirty money and youve got so many pals and cohorts in on it, or who owe you because you bought their loyalty or bullied them into submission. And with hardly anybody REALLY paying close attention. Nope.
Things are DIFFERENT in Washington and what you do IS answerable to the public - as are YOU yourself. They still dont get how this works.

(9,426 posts)McConnell should have been behind bars YEARS go, along with several other gop politicians. How about Cheney shooting a friend in the face, while drunk? No charges. Just two examples. Too many more to mention. The gop attracts the lowest of the low, since they know they get away with dirty tricks.

(14,562 posts)They only learned to lie and cheat.
When my kids were little and they did something minor, I sometimes overlooked it. They never developed the skills needed to "get away with something" Now that they are older they know they will get caught if they do something wrong and are utterly incapable of lying to me, so they don't.
For an added bonus, every so often I would ask them in a very stern tone, what they did at school today. What they needed to tell me. They would usually confess to something (like having their phone taken away until after school, being tardy for a class) and ask me how I knew. I didn't, but I knew they would confess.
I remember a story about trump. When he was 7 or so, he broke an expensive vase. He blamed it on the maid. The maid got fired and he got away with it. Right then and there he learned lying was a way to not accept blame and be punished.

(47,770 posts)for so long, that they've become careless and arrogant. What we consider criminal or corrupt, they just see as business as usual. Laws are for the "little people" they pass by on the streets and if a law threatens them, they just buy a politician and get it changed.
I sense a day of reckoning is coming for some of these fools and it is long overdue.

(38,458 posts)can ...are you ready...outsmart the FBI and the CIA..
Yes, that is how the criminal mind works..Trump may think he is one step ahead of all of them, but in reality...
he is walking..side by side with the FBI and the CIA too..
His close ties with Russians may have warned the CIA very early of possible illegal interactions with Russia/Putin. If you were the head of the CIA, would you keep an eye on Trump, that is before the election?..
Now, after the election, would you find a way to continue to keep an eye on Mr. Trump to make sure he does not compromise the U.S.A.?
Think about it. You already know the answer.

(6,831 posts)All FBI agents. No locals were there except to keep traffic off the street.
Rog is telling anyone who will listen that the FBI treated him worse than bid Laden. "It was unconscionable." What BS. In the first place bin Laden wasn't arrested by the FBI or anybody else. Second, bin Laden is dead and Roger Stone is still alive. They had no idea what he would do, hence the weapons. And no, as he claimed, neither his wife nor his dog were terrorized. It was all very civil and quiet -- it was 6am. FFS, it was all caught on FILM.

(118,379 posts)I never even ever heard of any of those people. In fact, I hardly know them. I'm sure none of them have ever been in my house; I never had any idea that any of them were there; I don't know why they were there; I had already asked them to leave; and anyway, I only invited them over for a nice martini before breakfast. It was a purely social gathering, and calling me a liar won't change anything"

(9,426 posts)Stone has been talking about how he expected to be subpoenaed for weeks. Who would attend a meeting with someone who is in the headlights of the FBI and Mueller? I hope one of them wore a wire. Maybe that is how the FBI showed up the next morning, after listening to any tape available? I wonder if dumbass Don Jr. was there? Maybe tRump attended, via Skype? Is Maleria still in Florida?
