Michael Cohen will testify "voluntarily" before the House Intelligence Committee in a closed session

...how does testifying behind closed doors make more sense than testifying in public?

Trump's lackeys on the committee will be sure to report anything negative to Trump and/or his associates, so, all this does is prevent the American people from hearing it directly. I don't get it...

Once it's out in the public sphere, Trump/Putin harm/retribution ag him or his family would be much more difficult to reassign to
another source.

And he's been a veritable pit bull in spite of 2 years of obstruction from within.

I suggest that this directive comes from the Special Counsel's office in concert with the Committee Chairman. The fear that an inadvertent error could somehow compromise the investigation has to underscore this decision.

I want to hear from Cohen as much or more than anyone else, but Schiff wouldn't agree to this without compelling countervailing forces. I trust him on this, I just don't like it.
