A number of Republicans want him off the 2020 ticket

Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large
Updated 3:01 PM ET, Tue January 29, 2019

... a new Washington Post-ABC News poll .. shows 1 in 3 Republican and Republican-leaning voters would like the GOP to nominate "someone other" than Trump in 2020 ...

Among those identifying as "liberal/moderate" Republicans, 49% want Trump to be renominated, while 48% want some other candidate to be the 2020 nominee. Among "very conservative" Republicans, 85% want to see Trump renominated while just 11% prefer another candidate. Overall, "conservatives" are more likely to want Trump to be renominated (74% Trump/23% someone else) than Republicans more broadly (65% Trump/32% someone else) ...

Running against Trump -- even in a likely quixotic primary -- could well preserve the idea of Republicanism apart from Trump for whenever Trump leaves office. And for whoever does decide to take up that anti-Trump mantle, he (or she) will likely be the first among equals in the presidential primary fight that follows Trump's departure from office ...

Will those "moderates" still hold their nose and vote for the Rump?

I mean, come on folks, wise the fuck up! You had your cake and got to eat it too for the last two years. Now you're not happy that it gave you heartburn? I don't think these assholes know what they want.

3. If Repub polls show him trailing in AZ, GA, FL, NC or TX, those voices will grow louder.

MI and PA have likely swung back to Team Blue following the shenanigans of 2016. WI may have as well. Possibly even IA.

He’s probably strongest in FL but maybe not. He has no margin to spare in NC. It’s just a matter of time before AZ and GA flip to blue and 2020 could be that year.

Yet it is TX that will cause Repubs to find a new candidate if early polls show 45 behind there. If Dems can build on Beto’s work and continue pushing red areas like Tarrant County to Team Blue, we could win the state. Heck, just making him spend time and money in TX opens up AZ, GA and NC for us.

It means they're a regional party for at least the next 20 years
Them losing it , is the equalivant of a 'lagging indicator' for the stock market/economy.

AND THEY KNOW IT.
But, given that the RNC and Team Trump are essentially one entity now, any primary Challenger is going to have a damn steep climb.

So fuck em, I guess lol!

He'll decide for either health or business reasons to return to private life.
He'll negotiate to not be prosecuted
He'll declare that he's fixed the country

We'll see a John Kasich/Nikki Haley ticket in 2020.

Trump will stay on the ticket until Party Leaders and Elected Officials decide they're ready to dump him.
