Just 28 percent of Americans say they will "definitely" vote to reelect President Trump in 2020, according to an ABC News/Washington Post poll taken last week just before the end of the government shutdown.
A much higher 56 percent answered that they "will not vote for" Trump next year. Fourteen percent said they will possibly vote for the 45th President.
The definitely-not numbers are considerably higher than those for Trump's predecessor: Between 41 and 46 percent of those polled said they would not vote to reelect President Obama -- the highest level of opposition to Obama was reached in the fall of 2011. Obama was reelected by a 51-47 percent margin over Mitt Romney one year later.
The ABC/Post poll found 64 percent of women and 59 percent of independent voters in the "will not vote for" category.
