Maybe this it's time to dust off this old chestnut in light of Steve Schmidt's recent comments.

It was a beautiful fall day as most of the birds began their annual southward migration. One little sparrow, however, continued to enjoy the warm autumn sunshine and the abundance of food. He ignored the warnings of his companions that "winter is near" and laughed at their pleas that he join them. Soon, he was alone and, with a full stomach, went to sleep that night marvelling at the foolishness of his companions.

He woke the next morning to a cold rain pouring from a leaden sky and a north wind with the scent of snow on it. Alarmed, he quickly decided that he'd better follow his friends and he took wing determined to catch up to them. The temperature continued to drop and the rain began to freeze onto his wings. He flew on as long as he could, but the ice on his wings eventually grew so heavy that he fluttered earthward and landed with a thud in a strange barnyard.

As the rain changed to snow and the little guy realized he was frozen to the ground, he sadly acknowledged that his life was about to end. But, just then, a cow on her way to the barn stopped as she stepped over him and emptied her bowels, completely covering him.

"What a final indignity!" the sparrow thought as it sat encased in the smelly meadow-muffin. But, then---WARMTH! He felt warmth! The warm dung soon thawed his frozen wings and freed him from the ground. Overjoyed, he poked his head out and loudly chirped in celebration!

The chirping attracted the barnyard cat, which quickly uncovered the poor bird and ate him.

THE THREE LESSONS TO BE LEARNED:
1.) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy;
2.) Not everyone who helps you out of the shit is your friend; and
3.) If you are safe, warm and happy with your situation, keep your damn mouth shut.

Somehow, this little story came to mind as I read Steve Schmidt's remarks comparing Democrats to Trump.
