General Discussion

Is that it is likely that these extreme winter weather events will continue in the Midwest and Northeast.
It is likely that the coastal areas will continue to suffer extreme weather from the tropics.
We have fires in the west.
I dont think we will all fit in NM and Arizona.
I fear that if TPTB dont start taking climate change seriously, there isnt going to be anywhere to go.

(31,261 posts)Plant more broad leaf trees, plant succulent plants everywhere, especially along interstates, high traffic roadways, fence lines, forests, ect. Succulent plants (Aloe Vera, Blue Agave and other Agaves) not only convert CO compounds to O2, 24 hours a day if they get some sunshine during the day, they also take in and break down volatile organic compounds from the air. If you know people that have an unused pond or wetland, seed CO compounds converting algae in it. I love the idea of planting succulents everywhere possible, because they also provide a close to idea habitat for other species (cockroaches, lizards, snakes, ants, ect)

(31,261 posts)But a lot of the gas being released would get released by humans. We need something that IMPACTS the concentration of ÇO and VOC (volatile organic compounds like CH3 and other volatile CH, CHO compounds) compounds in the ground air and lower atmosphere (and due to concentration diffusion, the upper atmosphere), humans not eating animals but releasing some of the gas that animals would have just shifts to release point.

(15,813 posts)I expect my city (Portland) to continue to see population growth. We have water ( not dependent on snow pack) and not a lot of local fires (except the gorge, but thats not Portland!)

(15,813 posts)I think we have 10 of the 14 most dangerous active volcanoes in the PNW. But... active volcano means it has erupted in the last 10,000 years. Most of the 10 are considered dormant, I think. Pretty sure mt St. Helens is considered active and not dormant.
Its pretty much a non issue. But earthquakes are kinda annoying. Id be more concerned about a cascadia earthquake.

(20,027 posts)Police say the march through Brussels drew at least 12,500 students, and another march in eastern Liege had at least as many protesters as the youth movement spread further across the country. In Leuven, close to Brussels, there were more than 3,000 protesters, including many primary school pupils.

(7,367 posts)It's a shame that scientists kept making projections about sea level rise in the year 2100...
It's far more complicated than that and it's happening now.
