I actually think he might be the mystery administration official who wrote the anonymous op-ed for the Times back in September.
I dont think he much appreciated being thrown under the bus by Trump right in front of Putin at their summit, and I dont think he appreciated being thrown under the bus today.
So if you are Dan Coats do you stay and try to be a voice of at least opposition to outright treason?
Or do you say screw that and do the Mattis thing and quit?

(42,641 posts)Yes, we know that Putin apparently exercises some control, as does Anne Coulter, but there is no reason to think that Trump can be controlled or influenced by others.
There is no voice of reason.

(12,344 posts)DNI is not a policy position like Sec Def is. But he can shield information from Trump and pass it on to others who could use it.
