what he has already said, there is nothing that Mueller report will do to change that. Trump has, in our faces, obstructed justice, tampered with witnesses, lied to the media and the American people, consorted with Putin and at least three other monster autocrats, abused his power, used his position to enrich himself and his family, trashed our own government and most of its institutions, used his office to tarnish the reputations of ordinary citizens, and hired the most unqualified administration in our history, and used his office to trash the media and interfere with freedom of speech.
There is nothing more needed to begin the impeachment process. If our Congress doesn't already see that and if they are too cravenly afraid of the Trump base, which is among some of the most vile, low-life ever, then they are not paying attention.

(3,340 posts)Why is everyone scared of his base? That's what it boils down to, right?

(31,151 posts)that if impeachment is not successful, right now it wont be, that it will garner sympathy for the vile piece of human excrement in the WH like when Bill Clinton was impeached.
Posts like this OP, accusing DEMOCRATS of being the problem, REALLY PISS me off.

Of course, I couldn't believe trump was elected when everyone voting knew he was a cad, greedy, a racist, misogynistic, incompetent, would sell us down the river, and worse.

(58,785 posts)though of course there's such a propaganda blizzard of it out there that inevitably many soak it in and probably leak it out here without realizing it.
But in any case, insidious equalizations like "If our Congress doesn't already see that and if they are too cravenly afraid of the Trump base, which is among some of the most vile, low-life ever, then they are not paying attention" are constantly floated by both our own right-wing propagandists and Russia's to try to undermine belief in Democrats and in the value of voting at all.
Hopefully, what's blatantly wrong about the equalization in this statement is not too subtle to understand when it's pointed out. Our Democrats in congress are not actually afraid of trumpsters, right? Or too uncaring to notice the grave threats Trump and right-wing authoritarianism pose to We the People and our democracy?
Actually, in the real world, house Democrats are already hard at work on issue areas like healthcare, infrastructure, climate change, national security, trade and technology. Our massive anti-corruption and election reform bill is top priority. Committees are at work addressing pharmaceutical costs, increasingly serious need to invest in infrastructure, and many other reforms Democrats are committed to. Our committees for battling climate change are at work and about to start hearings also.
**And, of course, our house Democrats are now the huge new threat to the corruption of the Trump administration.** What Republicans hid, protected, were complicit with, and blatantly refused to investigate is already being investigated by newly empowered Democrats and will be exposed and acted on by Democrats.
And in 2020 senate Democrats will finally become similarly empowered majority and can set to work restoring and improving the democracy we inherited.

(51,673 posts)I think people have faith in Mueller as a non partisan investigation (even though he is a Republican). Also, Mueller has tapes and documentation which is hard to refute. It was the Nixon tapes that finally made his base wake up and then they pressured the GOP Congress to get rid of him. It is all about his fucking cult/base!

If Mueller says that he has obstructed justice, then the people will believe it. The American people are waiting for his report.

(12,344 posts)A lot of it isn't illegal. Of course it looks very suspicious, but we don't have all the facts and evidence so we can't be certain.
I felt the way you do now during Watergate. I was very young then, so I didn't understand why people didn't see the obvious. But now I realize he had defenses he could still use, so the investigation had to run its course.

(16,867 posts)I want Trump to serve out his term. That crazy Fundagelical Dominionist creep VP doesn't ever need to be in the White House. I'm afraid we wouldn't get him out of there without a fight.
