I know that people here probably don't have these answers right now, but these are the questions I'd like answered.
Who is he in the picture? (not that it matters)
Who took the picture?
Who planned the costumes?
Why did he think it was OK to do this?
Are there other photos of him in racist outfits or using racist symbolism?
Who submitted the photo to the yearbook?
Who accepted the photo for the yearbook?
Why didn't the editor stop the photo from being included?
Why didn't the school stop the photo from being included or why didn't the school recall the yearbook?
Are there other symbols of hate in that yearbook or subsequent ones?
What was the culture of the school at the time?
Was there any discipline for the photo at the time?
Someone on DU today said they knew that school had racism in its past. Is this widely known?

I'd like to hear from African-American classmates of his at that school.

(34,127 posts)And was it a nickname he chose/assented to - or one imposed on him (my high school yearbook had all sorts of "cute" names for individuals that - as far as I know were never actual nicknames. Some were definitely intended to be derogatory.
