But wait a minute, there WAS an Afro-American Governor of Virginia—Douglas Wilder. Not during Reconstruction, not during the heady days of the Civil Rights era, but in the early 1990’s. And, Divine Providence smiling and the oligarchs thwarted in their efforts to undermine the popular vote, there will be another one.
