Hmmm..Justin Fairfax seems to suggest that it was Northam 's

people that released the info about his “scandal” to the press. He asked if it was a coincidence that this was released about him as the governor had issues. I would not be surprised. Or it could be the alleged victim that leaked it. Or it could be Republicans playing shenanigans. If the governor resigns I hope Justin Fairfax ignores the calls for resignation. We need him there to help with redistricting. Republicans get in charge and they will have Virginia back in their column. Virginians are still pissed at Trump. They flipped so many seats blue. We were just short of taking over on state level.

Really it goes back to Jim Webb as to when things clearly started to change here. Allen should have had zero problem winning that election - at least we thought.

Statewide Va is blue but internally they’ve been able to barely hold on to control mostly due to gerrymandering and luck. Court ordered redistributing is coming and that’s big trouble for them. There was a massive switch in 2017 ( we have off year elections) including a transgender candidate beating the guy who introduced a “bathroom bill” here. The Senate would be split if they hadn’t won an actual lot drawing to decide a seat that was tied - bullshit court ruling allowed the tying vote.

Spanberger winning a Congressional seat that Dems didn’t even used to contest was the explosion that brought down their house.

This is all the have left. Tabloid drama

Virginia Lt. Gov. Fairfax Suggests Northam or Allies Behind ‘Smear’ Assault Allegation: Timing No ‘Coincidence’

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is still resisting calls to resign amid mounting pressure from Democrats for him to step down.

Today Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax––who would be sworn in as governor if Northam resigned––denied an allegation of sexual assault against him that came out.

<snip>

Fairfax denied the allegations to reporters this afternoon, and one asked him about Collective PAC saying Northam’s people “have now decided to start attacking Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax by spreading lies to reporters and state leaders in an attempt to quell support for the Lt. Governor as Governor Northam’s impending successor should he resign.”

When asked directly if he believes it, Fairfax said he doesn’t know “precisely where this is coming from,” but then asked, “Does anybody think it’s any coincidence that on the eve of potentially my being elevated that that’s when this uncorroborated smear comes out?”

</snip>

Clear as mud, so I'm inclined to believe it's part of the RWNJ's attempts to exploit this mess...

5. Yeah I heard it on local Richmond talk radio this morning

Morning drive time host was clearly just planting a seed so the listeners had it to take to work with them. “Hmmm listen really carefully to his response” then he went in to another segment “just questioning” why the Washington Post didn’t publish this a year ago. The Liam Neeson sound bite was in between these segments.

The funny part was in the mix of talking about it he mentioned that the Post - with a snide reference to their Super Bowl ad - had investigated it “for months” and found that it was just he said she said.

The point was clear - he just wanted a “some people are saying” type influence.

John Reed - local TV reporter at one point and he also was a George Allen staffer at one point. Native Richmonder with some real background in politics.
The rest of the lineup is Beck, Rush, local afternoon host, Hannity on tape delay, not sure about the nighttime but it used to be Michael Savage.

See my post above for some local aspect.

They are just trying to gin up a controversy or plant a “some people are saying” thing in their own followers heads.

The idea that Nortam would use the same website —no one had heard of until last week - that posted his yearbook photo to do this is preposterous.

Fairfax did come out and say that this "scandal" involving him is too much of a coincidence for it to come out on the evening of the Governor scandal, and it came out by the same right wing web site. I actually agree with him. This is no coincidence.
