Tucker Carlson Loses Another Advertiser as Sponsor Boycott Lingers On

Tucker Carlson has added another name to what has become a long list of companies that have publicly disassociated themselves from his primetime Fox News program. On Monday evening, San Francisco's Sun Basket Meals became the latest sponsor to say they would no longer advertise on the show.

Their shows have become sponsor poison, and while Fox has near bottomless money to throw at them, sooner or later someone's going to want their time slots to show black instead of red on the corporate ledger.

I did a quick Google search for Sun Basket Meals, and they are in the home meal prep kit market, which is shrinking. I followed (but did not invest in) the Blue Apron IPO and the stock's subsequent performance, and investigated as many of the companies in this market as I could.

It seems they all got to their peak on hype, the costs of obtaining customers (free meals, deep discounts on the first delivery, etc.) are unsustainably high. And, Amazon is moving into that market, they already have an entire delivery system set up that keeps costs down.

Sun Basket is probably cutting its advertising budget in the middle of a death spiral.
