FICA...The Federal Insurance Contributions Act...Is Insurance

Not An Entitlement.

Insurance that everyone pays for each paycheck.

And they are going to shove that big E word down our throats as they try to bring down the deficit. WE have to start reframing the argument

For an earned benefit which they are obliged to pay. That is all.

But when I hear it referred to, especially by Cons, it is implied that SS is a gift coming right out of their pockets.

From https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/entitlement
1a : the state or condition of being entitled : RIGHT
b : a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
2 : belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges
3 : a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group
also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program

The government program is from definition 3, but to me seems also related to definition 1b.

The problem is definition 2, the spoiled child definition, which is not applicable to government benefits, but more closely fits our current president.
