Mike Pence Likely Implicated In Trump's SDNY Criminal Charges

Donald Trump’s inauguration committee has been accused of money laundering and making false statements in a subpoena from prosecutors with the Southern District of New York (SDNY). And it appears that both the president and the vice president could soon be facing criminal charges as a result.

CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz reported on Twitter that on the cover of the subpoena, prosecutors alleged that the committee partook in “conspiracy against the US, false statements, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, inaugural committee disclosure violations, and laws prohibiting contributions by foreign nations and contributions in the name of another person.”

These are the charges that the SDNY is planning against Donald Trump and his family. But others in Trump’s inner circle — including Mike Pence — are likely to be charged also.

3. Please note that Shimon, the journalist, doesn't say that about Pence.

The very left wing blog, Politics USA says it -- along with some things that cannot be true (e.g., that Trump stole all $107 million of the inauguration funds).

There are reasons to think it might be true. It would be wonderful if it were true. But it might be wishful thinking on the part of the writer at Politics USA and anyone who takes that source seriously.

4. I'm just relaying information

There is a larger story being reported that is true.

I looked up the source it is liberal but their bias seems to be more in story selection rather than reporting false or misleading information (they may omit information-story selection)

5. Well, it cannot be true -- as they reported -- that Trump stole $107 million in inaugural funds.

What is true is what Shimon tweeted -- a very broad subpoena has just been issued that could implicate any number of people. We just don't know yet.

I'm not that great at following the money to know one way or the other but it is unusual how much they did raise for a half empty inauguration.

8. Clearly they haven't accounted for all of that $107 million -- but they did spend SOMETHING

on the inauguration. We just don't know how much.

Thanks again for the link to the CNN article. I'm glad to hear that investigators are talking to people at the Trump org.

7. That CNN article you just linked to seems much more significant than the PoliticsUSA article.

Federal prosecutors in New York have requested interviews in recent weeks with executives at the Trump Organization, according to people familiar with the matter, signaling a growing potential threat to President Donald Trump and those in his orbit from criminal investigations by the Manhattan US Attorney's office.

Trump and his legal team have long harbored concerns that investigations by New York federal prosecutors -- which could last throughout his presidency -- may ultimately pose more danger to him, his family and his allies than the inquiry by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to people close to Trump. Prosecutors' recent interest in executives at Trump's family company may intensify those fears.

The specific inquiry or topics of interest by prosecutors in any interviews with Trump Organization executives wasn't immediately clear. The sources were not authorized to speak on the record. A spokesperson for the company didn't respond to a request for comment.

New York federal prosecutors in recent months have undertaken at least two investigations into Trump-related entities. The first one, which CNN has reported stemmed from the office's case against Trump's former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, is examining possible campaign-finance violations by executives at the Trump Organization during the company's effort to reimburse Cohen for hush-money payments he made or orchestrated to silence women who claimed affairs with Trump. Trump has denied those affairs.
